Hanesbrands income surges 48 percent

Solid outerwear and international sales bolstered Hanesbrands Inc. to a 48 percent increase in profit for the third quarter. The apparel company said its net income was $90.8 million, compared with $61.3 million a year ago, despite being challenged by higher cotton and other commodity costs.
