USDA Deputy Secretary and EPA Deputy Administrator to visit N.C. Nov. 17

On Thursday, Agriculture Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Deputy Administrator Bob Perciasepe will visit North Carolina to host a White House Rural Council roundtable with local officials, agricultural producers, businesses and community groups to discuss opportunities for rural America in the American Jobs Act and the Partnership for Sustainable Communities. The Deputies will talk about their work to strengthen rural economies and put people back to work.
During their visit, Deputy Secretary Merrigan and Deputy Administrator Perciasepe will release a new report from the HUD-DOT-EPA Partnership for Sustainable Communities in collaboration with USDA, highlighting the Administration’s support for small towns and rural communities as they work to create jobs and promote sustainable, homegrown economic development.
The Partnership for Sustainable Communities works to coordinate federal housing, transportation, water, and other infrastructure investments to make neighborhoods more prosperous, allow people to live closer to jobs, save households time and money, and reduce pollution.
