U.S. Senator Kay R. Hagan (NC) today reminded North Carolinians of important upcoming deadlines for Hurricane Irene assistance. The deadline for North Carolinians in the 38 affected counties to register for individual assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is TOMORROW, November 30. Tomorrow is also the deadline for small business owners to return applications for low-interest disaster loans from the Small Business Administration.

“As the state continues to recover from Irene’s devastation, it is imperative that all North Carolinians affected by the storm apply for necessary assistance with FEMA,” Hagan said. “If you need help or have any questions with the federal-claim filing process, please contact my office toll free at 877-852-9462.”

As of November 23, FEMA has approved almost $30 million for individual assistance in North Carolina. The Small Business Administration has approved more than $35.2 million in low-interest disaster loans to individuals and businesses.

North Carolinians can register for assistance with FEMA by calling 800-621-3362 (TTY: 800-462-7585) or visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov.
