It will be several more days before U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) is released from George Washington University Hospital, his office announced Sunday afternoon. Physicians at the Washington, D.C., hospital said that while Congressman Coble continues to make steady progress from an upper respiratory infection, he remains too weak to be discharged.

Rep. Coble has been at George Washington University Hospital since December 13. The 80-year-old representative has been battling very low sodium levels caused by an upper respiratory illness. Doctors have continued to rule out any other problems for Congressman Coble.

While it was previously hoped that Rep. Coble would be released on Sunday, physicians now are recommending that he remain hospitalized for several more days while he continues to receive treatment at George Washington University Hospital.
