2012 Local Foods Conference – “Sell Local, Sell Safe”

North Carolina Cooperative Extension is pleased to announce that the 2nd annual South Central District Local Foods Conference will be held on January 13, 2012 from 8:00 am - 3:15 pm at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center in Albemarle, NC.


This year’s theme, “Sell Local, Sell Safe,” will feature speakers from across North Carolina, including keynote speaker, Dr. Ben Chapman, Extension Food Safety Specialist.  Other sessions will include Food Safety from Field to Fork, Produce for the Public, From the Kitchen, and Selling Protein Foods.


The event will end with a success story panel of Partners Paving the Way.  In addition, vendors will be available throughout the day for local producers interested in services and contacts.


This conference is open to anyone interested in learning more about local goods, as well as those already producing them.  The cost to attend is $15 per person, which includes a lunch specializing in local foods.
