Sustainable Local Food Advisory Council will meet Jan. 19 in Raleigh

The N.C. Sustainable Local Food Advisory Council will hold its quarterly meeting, which is open to the public.

The council will receive an update on efforts to develop whole-farm certification for Good Agricultural Practices; hear a presentation about present-use valuations; develop work plans for subcommittees; and discuss strategies for implementing recommendations contained in the council’s 2011 annual report to the General Assembly.


The Sustainable Local Food Advisory Council was created by the General Assembly in 2009. Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler serves as chairman of the 27-member group, which includes farmers, educators, food industry executives, state agency heads, community activists and local-food advocates.
