U.S. Senator Kay R. Hagan (NC) TOMORROW will launch her “North Carolina Back to Work” jobs tour, a statewide effort focused on real action that can be taken right now to get North Carolinians back to work.  Hagan will kick off the tour at Laurinburg’s Service Thread Manufacturing, where she will also highlight an economic development announcement with Golden LEAF President Dan Gerlach, Scotland County Economic Development Corporation President Greg Icard, and Robin Cooley of the U.S. Department of Commerce.  Service Thread President Chip Butler, and Steve Smith, vice president for workforce development at Richmond Community College will also attend.

Hagan is starting her jobs tour in Scotland County because it has the highest unemployment rate in North Carolina with 16.6 percent unemployment. With more than 440,000 North Carolinians without a job, Hagan is launching the tour to hear ideas and concerns from North Carolinians that can be put into action in Washington.  Over the next several months Hagan will visit small businesses, job training centers, community colleges and workforce development offices across the state.

Following the “North Carolina Back to Work” launch, Hagan will host “Conversations with Kay” in Laurinburg and Raeford, where constituents can come meet with her to talk about their concerns.  Hagan’s constituent services staff will be on site to help people navigate issues with federal agencies, such as the VA, IRS or Social Security Administration.

Hagan will continue to hold "Conversations with Kay" in communities across the state to help North Carolinians who need assistance or want to discuss topics that concern them.
