N.C. Pecan Growers Association's meeting, workshop and orchard tour planned for Feb. 18

The N.C. Pecan Growers Association will host its annual educational workshop and orchard tour Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Sampson County Agri-Expo Center, 414 Warsaw Road, Clinton. The event is open to anyone involved, or interested, in pecan farming.

Topics to be covered include marketing resources, orchard equipment, orchard management and production practices. Special guest speaker will be Dr. George Ray McEachern, pecan extension horticulturist from Texas A&M University. Other presenters include area growers and staff from N.C. State University and the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The event will conclude with hands-on demonstrations in a local orchard and processing facility.


Cost is $20 and includes lunch. Registration begins at 8 a.m. An agenda and more information are available on the Pecan Growers Association website at www.ncpecans.org.
