The Jordan Lake Rules are a nutrient management strategy designed to restore water quality in the lake by reducing the amount of pollution entering upstream. Restoration, preservation and protection of the lake is essential, because it serves as a water supply for several thriving communities, as well as a prime recreation area for more than one million visitors each year. The lake and surrounding forests also provide critical habitat for many animal and plant species.

This training is required for:
• Those who apply fertilizer or organic materials to commercial cropland or commercial horticultural operations of any size in the Jordan Lake Watershed.
• Those who apply fertilizer to other commercial lands of 5 or more acres (e.g., golf courses) in the Jordan Lake Watershed.
• Hired applicators (individuals, companies, or public entities), who apply fertilizer to a combined total of 5 acres or more per year in the Jordan Lake Watershed.
