Date set for non-O157 STEC mini-conference

The North American Meat Processors Association announced the one-day conference “Control of Non-O157 STECs in Beef Processing” will be held on Thursday, March 15, at The Drake Hotel in Chicago prior to the start of NAMP’s Meat Industry Management Conference.

The program is scheduled for noon to 6 pm CST. Featured speakers include:
Barb Masters, senior policy advisor, Olsson Frank Weeda (OFW) LawBrenden McCullough, VP of technical services, National Beef Packing Co.Tim Biela, corporate food safety officer, American Foodservice Corp.Dan Engeljohn, assistant administrator, Office of Policy and Program Development, USDA-FSIS (invited) Wendy Warren, vice president of government & regulatory affairs, AEGIS Food Testing LaboratoriesJim Marsden, NAMP senior science advisor and regent’s distinguished professor at Kansas State University. The program will include an update on FSIS policy, packer and further processor perspectives and an update on test methods.

Groups partnering with NAMP on the mini-conference include: the American Association of Meat Processors (AAMP), American Meat Institute Foundation (AMIF), American Meat Science Association (AMSA), Chicago Mid-West Meat Association (CMMA), National Meat Association (NMA), Southeastern Meat Association (SEMA) and the Southwest Meat Association (SMA).
