Today, Representative Larry Kissell (NC-08) joined a bipartisan group of members of Congress for a press conference continuing his fight for immediate passage of the Energizing America through Employment Act, bipartisan legislation Kissell introduced this week to approve and expedite the Keystone XL pipeline project.

“This common sense legislation will do three simple things: approve this much needed pipeline project, create good jobs right here in America, and take steps to provide energy security for North America so we do not have to rely on nations like Venezuela or Iran,” said Kissell. “I’m proud to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and support this bipartisan solution to put people back to work and help provide additional energy security for our great nation.”

Kissell joined cosponsors Rep. Connie Mack (R-FL) and Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-MT) for a press conference announcing the introduction of the bill and urging leadership to bring it to the floor for a vote in both the House and Senate to get the Keystone XL project started.

“I’ll keep working with anyone I can to get the government out of the way of thousands of new private sector jobs,” said Rehberg. “This is America, where we take the bull by the horns and solve our own problems. Let’s cut through this red tape and get politics out of the way of economic recovery.”

“Politics have gotten in the way of creating jobs here on our American soil, and we cannot afford to sit around and wait for solutions,” added Kissell. “Let’s build the pipeline, put folks to work and end the partisan games that are threatening our economic recovery.”
