The Humane Society of the United States said Thursday it has filed supplemental complaints with the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission and Federal Trade Commission against Seaboard Foods for what the activist group calls the company's "grossly false and misleading statements" about its animal welfare practices.

HSUS's complaints come after the group released a video showing sows on Seaboard and Prestage Farms operations in Oklahoma. HSUS is campaigning for Seaboard, among other large U.S. pork producers, to end the use of gestation crates.

HSUS claims Seaboard's defense that it uses "U.S. industry practices" is inconsistent with other statements the group says the company has made about its animal welfare practices are "what separates Seaboard from other companies."

The second SEC complaint is available here, and the second FTC complaint is available here.
