Today Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) gave his statement regarding the Obama Administration’s FY13 budget:

“America is desperately looking for leadership to get us out of this fiscal crisis, but this Administration continues to make the problem worse. When the nation is $15 trillion in debt, running annual deficits of over $1 trillion and the economy is still struggling, the last thing we need is more of the same. But that’s exactly what this budget delivers:

• More deficit spending – a fourth consecutive year with the annual federal deficit over $1 trillion;
• More debt – another $3 trillion added to the national debt;
• More wasted money on foreign aid: $800 million for a new giveaway program to Middle Eastern nations;
• More failed big government “stimulus” spending;
• More federal bureaucracy and intervention in our schools – the U.S. Department of Education would get a 3.5% increase, the largest increase of any federal agency;
• More phony accounting – the Administration’s rosy, out-of-touch assumptions about economic growth mask how truly awful this budget will be on our debt and deficit.

This budget does not face up to the reality that Eastern North Carolinians have to face up to every single day. It’s time to get real. These are not the policies this country needs to create jobs and restore economic growth, and they’re certainly not the policies we need for a balanced budget. I look forward to working with my colleagues to craft a budget that actually delivers what Americans are looking for.”
