North Carolina Senator Brent Jackson (R-Sampson) today announced he will seek re-election in the 10th Senate District.

Jackson is a farmer and business owner who became one of the state’s leaders on agriculture issues during his first term in the North Carolina Senate, serving as Co-chair of the Senate Agriculture and NER Appropriation committees. He helped make the 2011 legislative session one of the most successful for farmers by passing laws that help the agriculture community, the backbone of North Carolina’s economy, create jobs and recover from the economic downturn.

Jackson has worked tirelessly to pass regulatory reforms, cutting many of the burdensome rules that keep farmers and business owners from producing goods and creating jobs. He also helped balance the state budget, erase the largest deficit in North Carolina history, reduce government spending, and cut taxes by $1 billion.

“I have been honored and humbled to serve my constituents in the North Carolina Senate,” Jackson said. “We have started putting North Carolina back on a sustainable path – a path to prosperity. But there’s more work to do to get the economy moving and to help North Carolinians get back on their feet. I will continue to fight for limited and transparent government, lower taxes, and fewer regulations on farmers and job creators.”

The 10th district includes Duplin, Sampson and Johnston counties

Jackson lives in Autryville with his wife, Debbie. They have two children and two grandchildren.

He is Founder and CEO of Jackson Farming Company, in Autryville. Under his leadership, the company maintains thousands of acres of farmland and the wide distribution of its produce to a variety of retailers. In addition to over 30 years in farming, Jackson has contributed much to his community and industry through his involvement in civic and trade organizations.
