Columbus County farming operation ordered to pay $1.5 million for Clean Water Act violation

A Columbus County farming operation that previously pleaded guilty to dumping the waste from an estimated 4,800 hogs into a tributary of the Waccamaw River was sentenced Monday to pay $1.5 million, while its president was ordered to serve six months in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
