A North Carolina state official who admitted to tipping off Butterball officials to allegations of animal abuse before a raid by law officers has been suspended for two weeks without pay, according to local media reports.

Dr. Sarah Mason, director of animal health programs in the state agriculture department’s poultry division, admitted earlier this year in a statement to telling a Butterball veterinarian about an impending raid prompted by a video captured by activist group Mercy for Animals. The video showed workers beating turkeys at a semen collection facility in Shannon, N.C.

Butterball issued a statement in response to the raid in December.
