USDA sets public meeting on school lunch ground beef safety

USDA announced the National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods plans to hold a meeting of the full committee by an audio conference call that is open to the public on March 28 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. EST.

The committee will discuss food safety questions from USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service to support ground beef purchase for the Federal Food and Nutrition Assistance Programs.

Specifically, NACMCF will address microbiological criteria, pathogen testing, methodology, and sampling plans regarding ground beef purchases for the School Lunch Program.
