Three North Carolina pork producers were elected to leadership roles in the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) during the organization's annual business meeting in Denver, CO earlier this month.

Ray Summerlin of Dunn was elected by delegates to the NPPC board of directors for a three-year term;
Kraig Westerbeek of Warsaw was elected by delegates to the NPPC nominating committee for a two-year term; and R.C. Hunt of Wilson was elected by the board of directors to the role of NPPC President.

Hunt is the president and co-owner of Andrews Hunt Farms and is serving his second term on the NPPC board of directors. He is a past president of the NC Pork Council.

Also during the business meeting, NPPC recognized outgoing director Don Butler of Clinton for his service of seven years on the NPPC board. Don served as president of the national organization in 2009. He continues to serve on various NPPC committees.
