In bid to save merger, Duke and Progress to pay others to take NC power

In their latest bid to win approval for their corporate merger, Progress Energy and Duke Energy are taking an unusual step to demonstrate that they will not monopolize wholesale power markets and manipulate prices: The companies will pay energy companies to move electricity out of North Carolina.
