The Republican race in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District got a little less crowded Thursday.Michael Schaffer, a retired Marine, withdrew and threw his support to Dan Barry, the mayor pro tem of Weddington. That leaves 10 Republicans vying for the seat of retiring U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick.
