The interest of dozens, if not hundreds, of North Carolina farmers have been piqued by the new focus of major livestock operations like Murphy-Brown LLC on grain sorghum production. In 2011, Murphy-Brown conducted a pilot project during which they contracted with farmers to grow several thousand acres of grain sorghum in the state.
