DURHAM – County Commissioners voted unanimously on Monday to ask the N.C. General Assembly to hold off until at least 2014 in passing any legislation that would legalize hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking,” to drill for natural gas.
The vote came on the advice of the city/county Environmental Affairs Board, which actually recommended that state officials wait until 2016 to see what upcoming scientific work on the technology and its fallout produce.
