Troxler to moderate farm bill discussion at N.C. State Wednesday

Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler will moderate a panel discussion focusing on the current and proposed farm bills at N.C. State University. The event, organized by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, is part of the Commissioner’s Speakers Series, which aims to educate college students about the issues facing modern agriculture and today’s farmers.

The panel will consist of people involved in agriculture policy at the state and national levels, including Peter Daniel, N.C. Farm Bureau; Sue Langdon, N.C. SweetPotato Commission; Gary Gay, NCDA&CS Food Distribution Division; Sen. Brent Jackson; and Rep. Efton Sager.

The event is open to the public and admission is free. Wednesday’s session is hosted by the Agri-Life Council and CALS Alumni & Friends Society.

The first speaker series was held at N.C. State in 2010. This year, the series has expanded to include two sessions at N.C.
