Last week, Rep. Myrick, along with Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK), Sen. Mark Udall (D-CO), Rep. Jim Cooper (D-TN-05) and Rep. James Lankford (R-OK-05) introduced bipartisan, bicameral resolutions to end the creation of federal duplicative programs.

In an op-ed published online by The Hill, they ask a simple question: if 25 programs don’t work, is a 26th program the answer? Instead of creating new government programs and throwing money at them, Congress needs to work to solve problems and make government more efficient. The easiest step is to stop wasting taxpayer dollars reinventing programs that are already on the books. While Congress must continue the fight to stop every redundant program, it must also stop the duplication before it ever starts.
