U.S. Rep. Mel Watt, D-N.C., breezed to his party’s nomination Tuesday night for an 11th term in Congress.
With 91 of 186 precincts reporting, the Charlotte lawmaker, 66, received 81 percent of the vote and easily beat back a challenge from Matt Newton in the Democratic primary.
