Interested parties have until July 9 to submit comments on the long-awaited revised version of USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service’s HACCP Systems Validation rule.

The proposed rule has caused concern among processors because it would raise the bar — and potentially the costs — of validating a plant’s HACCP plan. Processors also have complained that the proposed rule lacks specifics on some key points.

The revised document was expected to be released as early as last spring.

The Federal Register notice, with instructions on submitting comments, is available here.
