Dear Neighbor,

During my service in Congress, I have been committed to helping businesses maintain and create jobs here at home. Jobs are the #1 issue facing our citizens and communities, and it is important we have sound policies in plae to allow businesses to grow, thrive, and create jobs.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce recently chose me as a recipient of the “Spirit of Enterprise” Award, representing my support on key issues of importance to American business and being a voice for these economic engines in Congress.

In addition, I was also honored to receive the Thomas Jefferson Award from the International Foodservice Distributors Association for my work on and support for business and the free enterprise system.

These recognitions reflect my work and record in Washington, and I would like to share with you my 5-point plan of action – “Jobs First! Jobs for Us!” – for job creation. The components of the plan include:
Helping small business by improving access to capital and reducing unnecessary regulation and red tape;Building infrastructure, including deploying high-speed Internet and investing in water and wastewater projects, and promoting construction—both commercial and residential;Retraining our workforce with the private sector and educational institutions; Reforming the tax code to lower taxes, close corporate loopholes and simplify it; Creating jobs for tomorrow by boosting our domestic manufacturing base and investing in bio-fuels (non-corn ethanol), marine biotechnology, green industries and in North Carolina’s coastal treasures. My record shows I have consistently voted in support of sound fiscal policy, minimal government regulation, and other free market principles crucial to the health of our nation’s economy as a whole. Please be assured that I am committed to continuing my support for our businesses in Southeastern North Carolina.

Sincerely,

U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre
Representing the 7th District of North Carolina
