THE UK's leading sweet potato grower and importer has been selected as one of 50 national finalists in this year's European Business Awards.

Scott Farms International is a UK finalist in The Import / Export Award category.

As a national finalist Scott Farms International will go on to compete for the honour of becoming one of the UK's national champions. There are 11 categories in total.

'We are very proud and honoured to have been selected as a national finalist for The Import / Export Award category of this year's European Business Awards,' said Scott Farms International CEO, Stan Smith.
'The awards are extremely competitive and to be chosen as a national finalist is recognition of our commitment to the fresh produce import and export industry. It will drive us to further progress and for Scott Farms sweet potatoes to be asked for by name.'

The announcement comes just days after Scott Farms International was named Importer of the Year at the fresh produce industry's prestigious re:fresh awards in London.

The European Business Awards launched in 2007 and is a celebration of the most innovative businesses on the continent.

Last year the awards engaged with 15,000 organisations in 35 countries showcasing the best in class, the winners from a diverse range of industries.

The 56 independent judges were invited to participate in the competition based on their experience, business acumen and expertise. Each panel includes different nationalities.

All national finalists must now submit a video which will be uploaded to the European Business Awards website. National champions will then be selected from the national finalists. Ruban D'Honneur recipients are then selected from national champions and category winners selected from national champions, which will be announced at the European Business Awards gala finale.

Scott Farms International, which has been in operation for five years, last year launched its love sweet potatoes campaign to educate the consumer on the nutritious and hardworking vegetable for the benefit of the whole industry. As a result the company has seen growth in the import of sweet potatoes into the UK and continental Europe and is now looking further afield.
