Following Senate passage of the 2012 Farm Bill, U.S. Senator Kay R. Hagan (NC) TODAY at 11am will visit with farmers in Duplin County, North Carolina's top farming county. Hagan will tour Shaw Farms in Wallace with Larry Shaw, a third generation farmer, to discuss the operations of his farm where he grows corn and soybeans.

Later in the day in Kenansville, Hagan will host “Conversations with Kay” and offer remarks on North Carolina’s agriculture economy and the 2012 Farm Bill. Constituents and members of the farming community can meet with Hagan to talk about their concerns. Her constituent services staff will be on site to help people navigate issues with federal agencies, such as the VA, IRS or Social Security Administration.

Hagan fought to ensure that the interests of North Carolina farmers were considered throughout Senate deliberations of the 2012 Farm Bill. Hagan included an amendment in the bill that gives farmers the information they need to make informed decisions about new federal crop insurance programs. For more information, please click here.
