Mattie Lawson, running as a "principled conservative" candidate in NC House District 6 (northern Beaufort, Hyde, Washington and Dare counties) soundly defeated Democrat-lately-turned-Republican Arthur Williams in the July 17, 2012 run-off election for the Republican nomination.
