A Japanese government food safety advisory panel approved recommendations on easing restrictions on imports of U.S. beef, according to media reports.

The panel’s recommendation is now open to a 30-day public comment period, and then will be passed on to the Health Ministry.

The panel reportedly said raising the cattle age limit to 30 months from 20 months of age would pose no danger to human health.

The panel said the same for beef from Canada, France and the Netherlands, on which Tokyo has placed similar restrictions, according to reports.
