State Farmers Market to celebrate local wine and muscadines

September is Wine Appreciation Month in North Carolina, and the State Farmers Market is getting into the spirit with free wine tastings during its annual Grape Day celebration. Visitors will be able to sample and purchase a variety of N.C. wines, muscadine grapes and other grape products during the event.

Friday, Sept. 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Grape Day is sponsored by the N.C. Wine and Grape Council, N.C. Muscadine Association and the State Farmers Market.

Shoppers can find N.C. wines and other grape products during Grape Day and throughout the year in the Market Shoppes. Visitors also can find a great selection of summer produce at the market, including peaches, tomatoes, corn, watermelons, cantaloupes and squash. In addition, there are a variety of mums, pansies, shrubs and perennials available in the Farmers Building.
