McIntyre meets patrol at Southwest border in effort to fight illegal immigration

U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre, a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, just returned from the Arizona/Mexico border where he met with federal officials to discuss the fight against illegal immigration.

McIntyre was joined on the trip by Congressman Robert Aderholt of Alabama who is Chairman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee that has federal budget responsibility for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security including the U.S. Border Patrol.

Congressman McIntyre stated, “Illegal immigration is a real challenge for our nation, and it was important to see the resources that are being displayed to help combat this problem. Improving border security is one of my legislative priorities and joining Chairman Aderholt on this trip was a great opportunity to see first-hand the work and talk with officials who are involved in the immigration effort. I will continue to push for strong immigration enforcement and laws! ”

Included in the trip were visits to Joint Field Command Headquarters, viewing of border checkpoints and fencing, review of operational tactics and enforcement challenges.

Representative McIntyre is a senior member of the Law Enforcement Caucus on Capitol Hill.
