As cases of West Nile Virus have brought increased attention to pest control activities this summer, NASDA at its Annual Meeting this week, urged quick action to eliminate the duplicative permitting requirements resulting from National Cotton Council v. EPA. Because of that decision, many FIFRA-compliant pesticide applications are now also subject to duplicative regulation under the Clean Water Act. NASDA members called attention to the "public health need for urgent action to clarify that FIFRA is the appropriate statute under which to regulate pesticide applications."
