Farmland preservation advisory committee to meet Wednesday

The Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund Advisory Committee will meet Wednesday, Sept. 26, for an update on the current grant cycle and budget and to discuss the upcoming grant cycle. The committee will also learn about the money earmarked for farmland preservation in Western North Carolina as part of the TVA settlement. Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler will preside.
The committee advises the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services on the prioritization and allocation of trust funds, the development of criteria for awarding funds, program planning, and other areas for the growth and development of family farms in North Carolina.
