N.C. producers buy record corn haul from Brazil: report

Prestage Farms and two other North Carolina livestock companies have purchased some 750,000 metric tons of corn from Brazil amid soaring U.S. prices, according to a report by Reuters.

The purchases via companies such as Archer Daniels Midland and Bunge are the largest on record, according to the report.

Prestage Farms went in on the import deal with Smithfield Foods subsidiary Murphy Brown LLC and poultry company Nash Johnson & Sons' Farms Inc, Reuters reported.
