Mexico has officially joined the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) after having complied with internal procedures as required by its member countries, said the Mexican Secretary of Economy in a press release. Mexico initially expressed interest to be part of this negotiation back in November 2011.

TPP member countries formally invited Mexico to join as a member country following a meeting between U.S. President Barack Obama and Mexico's President Felipe Calderon at the G-20 Summit held in Los Cabos, Mexico in June of this year.

Mexico can now fully participate in all negotiations and discuss its own national interests as a TPP member country.

The TPP would allow Mexico to enhance its commercial trade, increase exports and maximize their global supply chain role in both the U.S. and Asia-Pacific regions.

Mexico will host an "intersessional" meeting November 12-15, which will include participation by all TPP countries.
