Up, up and away: USDA forecasts retail beef, poultry, pork prices

USDA reported retail beef prices rose 5.4 percent in September compared to the same month last year, while poultry prices rose 4.8 percent and pork prices declined by 2.7 percent.

For all of 2012, USDA predicts retail beef, veal and poultry prices will rise 3.5 percent to 4.5 percent while pork prices rise 1 percent to 2 percent.

In 2013, USDA predicts retail beef and veal prices will rise another 4 percent to five percent, while poultry prices rise another 3 percent to 4 percent and pork prices rise by 2.5 percent to 3.5 percent.
