Former President George W. Bush calls for ‘benevolent spirit’ in immigration debate

George W. Bush — who has listed the failure to pass an immigration overhaul as one of the regrets of his presidency — called Tuesday for the nation’s leaders to debate the topic with “a benevolent spirit” and to “keep in mind the contributions of immigrants.”
