Once again, U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) will chair the House subcommittee that has jurisdiction over the nation’s intellectual property policy. U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), the incoming chairman of the House Judiciary committee today named Congressman Coble as the new chairman of the reconstituted panel that will deal with copyright, patent and trademark issues, along with the Internet and the federal court system.

“I am pleased to have Howard Coble serve as the chairman of the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet,” said Judiciary Chairman-elect Bob Goodlatte. “As a former chairman of this important subcommittee, his experience will be an asset as we work to advance policies that will help America maintain its competitive edge and create jobs.”

Rep. Coble was chairman of Subcommittee on Courts, Commercial and Administrative Law during the 112th Congress.

“I am honored that Chairman-elect Goodlatte has selected me to preside over this prestigious panel,” Rep. Coble stated. “This subcommittee will be at the intersection of intellectual property and the online world in which we live. I look forward to a lively two years of hearings and subcommittee markups. As a former federal prosecutor, I am also especially pleased that the federal court system will remain as part of our jurisdictional portfolio.”
