U.S. Senator Kay Hagan today released the following statement on the passing of longtime North Carolina lawmaker Jean Preston:
“Whether serving in the classroom or the General Assembly, Jean spent her life working to create a brighter future for North Carolina families. She was a tireless advocate for our students and the people of her district, and I was proud to work alongside her during my time in the State Senate. Jean was a friend to many and will be missed greatly by those in her district and across the state. North Carolina is undoubtedly a better place because of her service.”
