Dear Friends,

With Eastern North Carolina’s deep ties to our nation’s military and agriculture economy, it is an honor to serve on the House Armed Services Committee and the Agriculture Committee in the United States House of Representatives. My work on each of these committees is important to ensuring the voices of our military, farmers, families, and rural communities are heard when bills and legislation are being written and debated. In this newsletter, you will find more information about my roles on the House Armed Services Committee and the Agriculture Committee.

House Armed Services Committee
Our nation’s security and freedom is of utmost importance to our entire nation. On the House Armed Services Committee, I serve on two subcommittees.

I have been unanimously elected to serve as the #1 Ranking Member on the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee. This key subcommittee has oversight over the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps programs, including acquisition of all Naval ships and equipment, Marine equipment and Air Force deep strike bombers.

I have also been appointed to serve on the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee which includes jurisdiction over all Army and Air Force acquisition programs and weapons systems.

Additionally, this subcommittee will be responsible for Navy and Marine Corps aviation programs and weapons system, National Guard and Army and Air Force reserve modernization, and ammunition programs.

Agriculture Committee
Agriculture is vital to North Carolina’s economy, and I will keep working to do all I can to help North Carolina farmers compete and produce crops for our consumption and security. The two key subcommittees on which I serve in the Agriculture Committee include Livestock, Rural Development and Credit Subcommittee and Energy Conservation and Forestry Subcommittee.

North Carolina’s 7th Congressional District is one of the top livestock producing districts in the country with over $2.1 billion in business from the industry occurring each year. This places the district in the top four percent in the country for livestock production.

I will continue to work to ensure that we protect the vital resources important to farmers, help small communities and towns with rural development needs, and maintain the safety net for our farmers.

Sincerely,

U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre
Representing the 7th District of North Carolina
