ASHEVILLE— The Republican congressman representing most of the city called an immigration reform plan emerging from a handful of U.S. senators “more backroom deal-making.”

“What’s needed now is an open and fair legislative process, not more deals cut behind closed doors,” said U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-Lake Norman.
