Flavors of Carolina offers food businesses chance to sample and shine

Nearly 100 food-based businesses will participate in the Flavors of Carolina food show in Raleigh. The annual event, organized by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, connects buyers with local producers of sauces, wines and other specialty products.

More than 10 percent of the companies are participating for the first time. Those companies include a producer of vegetarian foods in Nash County, a distillery in Caldwell County, as well as makers of artisan cheeses, barbecue sauces, honeys, peanut butters, salad dressings and salsas.

Flavors of Carolina is by invitation only for vendors and buyers. Media also are invited to attend.

Flavors of Carolina aims to encourage food buyers to purchase locally grown and processed foods. The show leads to millions of dollars in sales for N.C. companies, provides high-quality foods to N.C. residents and increases demand for more foods produced by N.C. farmers and food businesses.
