Even though he is recovering in his Greensboro home following a two-day stay at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) was honored on Capitol Hill Thursday for his conservative voting record. Congressman Coble was honored in absentia by the American Conservative Union (ACU) for the votes he cast in 2012.
The ACU awarded Rep. Coble with a rating of 91% for the votes he cast during the second session of the 112th Congress. “The ACU rating has been a bellwether of true-blue conservatism,” Rep. Coble said in a statement. “When the ACU gives you its stamp of approval, it is meaningful. My only disappointment is not being able to pick up the award in person today.”
ACU Chairman Al Cardenas said it was a no-brainer to honor Howard Coble. “ACU is delighted to once again give our ratings award to Howard Coble,” Cardenas said. “Congressman Coble’s lifetime rating of 90% over 28 years of service shows an extraordinary commitment to conservative principles on a wide range of issues.”
The ACU examined 25 House votes in 2012 on issues ranging from health care, energy and missile defense to federal spending and environmental legislation.
