The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced plans for five meetings for the public to provide feedback as it implements its initiative on judicious use of medically important antimicrobials in the feed and water of food producing animals.

Particular emphasis will be placed on challenges faced by animal producers in areas that may lack access to adequate veterinary services, the agency said.

The meetings are jointly sponsored by FDA and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).
