A bill has been introduced by Sen. Michael Walters (D-Columbus, Robeson) to change the frequency of the soil sample required under animal waste management permits. Currently an annual soil sample is required but the bill would change that requirement to every three years. Senate Bill 205 entitled, Eliminate Unnecessary Testing/Animal Waste will be heard in the Senate Agriculture and Environment Committee next Tuesday, March 19.
