Dear Friends,
It’s been a busy District Work Period in Eastern North Carolina this week. Our veterans witnessed the opening of a new super regional clinic, our fire departments received over $1,000,000 in federal funds for improvements, businesses are growing and creating jobs, and citizens across our state and nation joined together to pray on the National Day of Prayer.

On Tuesday, I participated in the new Wilmington Super Regional Clinic ribbon cutting. Since I came to Congress, I have worked tirelessly on the Armed Services Committee to make this clinic a reality and resource for our veterans. Our veterans have earned the care of their country through their service and I’m pleased that the Super Regional Clinic is now open to serve them.

Ensuring our fire departments and first responders have the resources they need to protect our communities has been a priority for me. This week, fire departments in Duplin, Johnston, and Brunswick Counties received federal funds to make important improvements.
· Duplin: 14 Fire Departments receive $997,110 for the purchase of VIPER radios that will improve response time, service, and communications.
· Johnston: Micro Volunteer Fire Department received $63,271 in federal funds for operations and safety improvements.
· Brunswick: Southport Volunteer Fire Department received $66,500 in federal funds for operations and safety improvements.

Economic Development in our rural counties is critical to helping these communities thrive and grow. This week, I visited the Town of Faison which received $1,500,000 in federal funds to assist with infrastructure improvements that will create more than 80 jobs at Southern Produce and Cottle Strawberry Nursery & Farm Warehouse. Helping our businesses create and protect jobs is a priority for me and I will continue to work with our rural communities to do just that.

Yesterday, our nation paused to join in prayer for the National Day of Prayer. It was an honor to join the good folks in Stedman on this special day. As the Co-Chair of the Congressional Prayer Caucus, I invite you to pray for our nation. You can learn more about the Prayer Caucus and the National Day of Prayer here.

Sincerely,

U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre
Representing the 7th District of North Carolina
