USDA has named Michael Scuse as the agency’s acting deputy secretary, effective May 4, according to a report by the National Chicken Council.

Scuse succeeds Kathleen Merrigan. Scuse has been serving as undersecretary for USDA’s Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services (FFAS) for a year.

The agency also named Darci Vetter as acting undersecretary for FFAS, and Suzanne Heinen will serve as acting deputy undersecretary for that agency. Vetter has been serving as its deputy undersecretary.

Heinen was appointed Foreign Agricultural Service administrator last May after serving 11 months as acting administrator.
