Former N.C. Senator Calvin Coolidge Murrow dies

Governor Pat McCrory ordered all North Carolina state flags to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, May 10th in honor of NC Senator Calvin Coolidge Murrow. Senator Murrow passed away on April 30th and a memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, May 11th in Southport, NC.

Senator Murrow represented Guilford County in the NC Senate from 1969 – 1977 and was a member and chairman of the North Carolina State Ports Authority from 1973 – 1976. Senator Murrow served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II where he participated in the liberation of Guam in 1944.
